Local Search
When someone uses search engine to find products or service in their particular geographic area, they are performing a local search. The search engines will interpret whether or not the search is local in nature by evaluating the use of keywords (Ex: “Atlanta Bankruptcy Attorney”).
The local search results appear in a Maps section that displays a list of results and marks the locations of the related businesses within the map. Statistics show that businesses listed in the Local Search section consistently receive higher click through rates than other areas on the Search Engine Results Page.
Furthermore, clicks received in this area are FREE, so the importance of vying for position in this area is a no-brainer. Like it or not, if you are not showing up on “the map” you are losing new business opportunities every day.
